1.  How we recruit:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred, though an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) may be acceptable for some positions.
  • Clinical Experience: Specify the number of years of oncology or cancer center experience required (e.g., 2-3 years), including experience in chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and patient education.
  • Certifications: List preferred certifications such as Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON), or Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN).
  • Licensure: Require an active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain one in the state of employment.
  • English Language Proficiency: For internationally trained nurses, TOEFL or IELTS is needed, unless they are from an English-speaking country.

2. Support Licensure and Credentialing for International Nurses

For international candidates, obtaining a U.S. RN license is a critical step. This includes:

  1. Pass the NCLEX-RN Exam: All nurses must pass the NCLEX-RN exam to practice in the U.S. Provide preparation resources or funding support if necessary.
  2. State Licensure Application: Ways Global can assist for applications  state-specific nursing licenses, as each state has unique requirements.

3. Navigate Immigration and Visa Processes

For international nurses, you’ll need to sponsor them for a work visa. Here are the most common visa options:

  • EB-3 Visa (Employment-Based Immigrant Visa): Ideal for most nurses. It involves:
    • PERM Labor Certification: Demonstrating that there are no qualified U.S. workers available for the position.
    • Immigrant Petition (Form I-140): Filing with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
    • Consular Processing or Adjustment of Status: Ways Global will guide candidates through the final visa application or adjustment of status if they are already in the U.S.
  • H-1B Visa: For nurses with advanced roles (e.g., Nurse Practitioners) since it requires a “specialty occupation.”
  • TN Visa: Available to Canadian and Mexican nurses under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). This is often faster and less complex to obtain.

4. Provide Comprehensive Relocation and Transition Support

Ways Global will provide support such as:

  • Relocation Assistance: Cover costs for housing, transportation, and initial living expenses.
  • Cultural and Professional Integration: Offer training on the U.S. healthcare system, oncology protocols, and cultural adaptation.
  • Mentorship Programs: Assign mentors within the cancer centre to help new hires integrate professionally and socially.

5. Compliance with U.S. Regulations and Standards

When hiring internationally trained nurses, Ways global will ensure candidates meet all regulatory requirements:

  • Department of Labor (DOL) Compliance: Follow guidelines for labor certification if sponsoring an EB-3 visa.
  • State Nursing Board Requirements: Confirm that the nurse meets the specific licensing requirements for the state where they will practice.
  • Health and Safety Standards: Make sure nurses are trained and up-to-date with safety standards, especially those related to chemotherapy handling and infection control.
